Welcome to the GRUBS website

GRUBS is Griffith University's Bushwalking Society, though we do a lot more than just that! Check out which trips are happening soon, or if you're new and want to know what it is we get up to, maybe read a little about the club. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the club executive team.

2009 website finally online!

Welcome everyone, well it's been a while in the making - and it's still no where near completed yet - but the skeleton of the new GRUBS website is up and running fine. In the next couple of days everyone who has registered with GRUBS on this website (the old version of it) will be emailed out a username and password to enable you to login and update your details, etc.

If anyone encounters an error or something that doesn't look right, can you PLEASE send an email to caseyfw AT yahoo DOT com so I can fix it immediately!

At the moment there's not much functionality, but more will be added relatively quickly. The upcoming features are:

Online trip management
We've been discussing this for years now, and it's finally starting to happen. Coming soon all trips will be created, joined, talked about and managed online. No more messy email organisation or frantic ringing about the night before!

Gear and Locker management
Everyone will be able to view, hire and reserve GRUBS resources online - this will hopefully streamline some of the current systems we have in place for this, and make it a hell of a lot easier for the executive team (I'm looking at you Lis).

Fully functional open Wiki
GRUBS has a lot of human knowledge, and nothing helps get this online better than a wiki. I've been looking at integrating one with this setup, and it seems pretty simple. When it is up, it will allow any member to put a slice of their experiences and knowledge up for the rest of the community.

Photos
One of the biggest complaints about the last website was the lack of photos. Unfortunately GRUBS can't afford to host everyone's photos - but we can make it much MUCH easier to link to Flikr, Facebook or any other web-based photo album. Soon any news post, trip description, trip comment or trip write-up will allow the uploading of photos.

That's all I can think of for now. Major revisions to this site will be notified via the mailing list. Thanks everyone, stay grubby,
Casey.
